Accra: A total of 14 health workers have been selected to compete for the coveted 2024 Miss Health Ghana crown, an event that seeks to highlight the intersection of healthcare and innovation. More than 100 aspirants auditioned, showcasing their grasp of this year’s theme, ‘Health Through Innovation for a Healthier and Sustainable Future.’ The grand finale is set for November 2, 2024.
According to Ghana News Agency, the finalists include a diverse group of health professionals and students, such as Codjie Maud Sena and Jacqueline Fosu, both nursing students, Esther Cachana, a licensed radiographer, and Ruth Ndichafah, a medical student. Other contestants are Melissa Abena Asare, a midwife, Nyarko Ohenewaa, a registered midwife, and Victoria Ofori, a health staff member. The list is completed by Ofosu Magdalene, a staff midwife, Marilyn Owusu, a medical laboratory student, Demelle Knight-Tay, a student, and Eno Gyamfua, CEO of Hello Period.
During the unveiling ceremony in Accra, Ms. Gladys Akyere Rockson, CE
O of Lamrock Agency, the pageant’s organizers, applauded the contestants for advancing to this stage. She highlighted the anticipated tough competition and the educational value the pageant would offer, focusing on how technological advancements can transform the healthcare system.
Ms. Akyere Rockson further underscored the significance of this year’s theme, which aims to foster healthcare innovations and sustainable practices. The pageant also plans to support the renovation of the Ashaiman PolyClinic and conduct health screenings nationwide.
Before the finale, the contestants will engage in a breast cancer awareness program with Academic City University, involving education and screenings for students. The path to selecting the new Miss Health Ghana is set to include a range of engaging events, culminating in a grand celebration at the Marriott Hotel on November 2, 2024.
