Jhinaoui calls for creation of national institution to promote Tunisia’s image abroad

Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui called for the creation of a national institution to promote Tunisia’s image abroad.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 35th Annual Conference of Heads of Diplomatic and Consular Missions at the Carthage Palace on Monday, Jhianoui also pointed out the importance of the diplomatic academy project proposed by the department, in the continuous training of Tunisian, but also Arab and African diplomats.

In this regard, he considered that the implementation of the recommendations of this conference will contribute to reinforce Tunisia’s image as a “nascent democracy” committed to the eradication of terrorism.

The conference focused on fostering co-operation relations with the African continent countries as part of a win-win solidarity-based partnership, he said.

It is also necessary to strengthen strategic relations with the European Union and maintain the level reached by relations with the United States of America on the basis of a strategic partnership for development and security.

The conference, according to the FM, recommended fostering co-operation relations with States such as Japan, South Korea, China, Russia and Brazil and work to conquer new markets.

Participants recommended that the national legislation be better adapted to Tunisia’s diplomatic objectives, reinforce the air and sea transport system to sub-Saharan Africa and help private promoters to have access to African markets.
