Law on Violence against Women: second legislative revolution after Personal Status Code (UGTT)

The Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) commended Monday the adoption of the Organic Law on Violence against Women, describing it as a second legislative revolution added to the Personal Status Code (PSC).

This law which further reinforce women’s rights to involve the social, economic, political, cultural and civil fields and prohibit all forms of violence and exploitation against women, is in tune with the Constitution, the UGTT pointed out in a press release.

On this occasion, the union pays tribute to the civil society components and national personalities for the efforts exerted to pass this law, calling to take all the necessary measures to preserve women’s rights.

The UGTT urges the government to speed up the ratification of international agreements on women, mainly the agreement N183 on maternity protection.
