Micro-Finance Expo inaugurated

The first edition of Micro-Finance Expo: the Regional Forum on Microfinance and social and solidarity economy was officially inaugurated on Friday afternoon at the Convention Centre in Tunis by Finance Minister Lamia Zribi.

This two-day forum is a meeting place for the microfinance community and bringing together public and private decision-makers, civil society organisations, institutions and professionals active in this sector.

The programme includes a series of conferences and workshops led by Tunisian and foreign experts dedicated to the promotion of microfinance in financing and developing micro-investments, strengthening of entrepreneurial capacities and inciting young people to entrepreneurship.

These workshops also shed light on the need for financial education for youth, the importance of micro-entrepreneurship for women, but also of social entrepreneurship as a vector of wealth creation and of the university as a springboard for Entrepreneurship.

Statistics show that 81% of Tunisians are interested in microfinance and that the Tunisian market counts between 1.2 and 1.4 million micro-entrepreneurs.
