Tunisia is not a transit country for illegal migration (Radhouane Ayara)

Tunisia is not a transit country for illegal migration, Secretary of State to Foreign Minister for Immigration and Tunisian Expatriates Radhouane Ayara affirmed calling for adopting a comprehensive approach in terms of consensual management of the migration issue so as to deal with its real causes.

Ayara, who took part in the ministerial conference on migration held on July 5-6 in Rome by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation entitled: a shared responsibility for a common goal: solidarity and security, reviewed the outlines of the 2015-2020 national strategy in the immigration field and monitoring Tunisians abroad based on the action plan that resulted from the Valetta Summit on Migration (November 2015).

According to him, tackling the causes of illegal migration requires supporting development and investment in the less developed regions exporters of illegal migrants.

He called on the European side to inspire from bilateral agreements that Tunisia had concluded with France, Switzerland, Italy and Germany that have largely contributed to fighting this phenomenon.
