Tunisia rank second in Arab Athletics Championships

Tunisia finished second in the Arab Athletics Championships held July 15-18 in Rades with a tally of 34 medals (9 gold, 13 silver and 12 bronze) behind Morocco (12 gold, 11 silver and 8 bronze). Algeria ranked third with 18 medals (9 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze).

Tunisian athletes won 4 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze at the fourth and last day. The gold went to Atef Saad in half-marathon (1:05:03), Nada Chroudi in shot put (13.42m), Zied Ben Othman in 5000m (14’33”03) and Fatma Lahmadi in triple jump (12.60m).

Wissem Hosni got the silver in the half-marathon (1:06:31) along with Samia Dhahri (1: 07:28), Haifa Tarchoun in 1500m (4’30”80) and Chalbia Ben Salem in the trimple jump (11.24m).

The five bronze medals went to Nada Amri in the half-marathon (1:40:28), Nabiha Gaddah in shot put, Zied Azizi in 400m hurdles (50”05), Abdesslam Ayouni in 800m (1’47”59), Aymen Hmissi in decathlon (5685 points) and Marouen Mansour in long jump (7.50m).
