An extraordinary session of the National Dialogue started, Wednesday, in the premises of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) to examine the situation in the country after the elections.

UGTT S-G Hassine Abassi, President of the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts Wided Bouchamaoui, President of the Bar Mohamed Fadhel Mahfoudh and vice-president of the Tunisian Human Rights League Ali Zeddini participate in the meeting. According to an informed source of the UGTT, the meeting will also focus on the acts of violence in some regions, in protest against the preliminary results of the second round of the presidential election.

Abassi had voiced wish, during an address at the closing of a training session organised by the Department of Women, Young Workers and Associations stemming from the Union, to see Tunisia’s wise people contribute to ease tensions. He called on the Tunisian people not to be drawn by those who want to plunge the country into disorder and chaos.

Abassi noted that the country is threatened by terrorism and that only the unity of Tunisians will protect it from this scourge.
