2018 will be difficult (Minister of Investment and International Co-operation)

2018 will be a difficult year due to the increased pressure on public finances, Minister of Investment and International Co-operation Mohamed Fadhel Abdelkefi affirmed arguing that the solution lies in the relaunch of the economic growth.

Speaking Monday during a study day on the Principal of Positive Discrimination: Concepts and Mechanisms, the minister further spoke of the existence of difficulties to develop the 2018 budget set at 36 billion Tunisian dinars compared to the 2017 budget.

This situation is explained by the increase of the payroll and energy subsidies that reached 1.4 billion Tunisian dinars against the current 650 million Tunisian dinars, he added.

For him, the first solution consists in finding a growth pace higher than 3%. The second solution, not currently raised, will be based on the adoption of an austerity policy, he noted.
