4 Dead, 1 Missing as Torrential Rains Trigger Flooding in Central China

Hunan: Four people have died and one person is missing after torrential rains triggered severe flooding in central China's Hunan Province, authorities said Tuesday. The adverse weather conditions have significantly impacted the region, leading to widespread disruptions and evacuations.

According to Anadolu Agency, the latest wave of rainfall affected 61,583 residents in Shimen County, with 19,040 people evacuated to safer areas. The heavy rain has continued across parts of central China, causing widespread flooding that has forced the closure of schools and businesses. Transportation and electricity services have also been disrupted, adding to the challenges faced by the affected communities.

Chinese state media outlet Xinhua reported that parts of Hunan are facing an elevated risk of rain-related disasters. These include landslides, flash floods, urban flooding, and waterlogging. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and heed safety warnings as emergency response teams work to address the situation and provide assistance to those in need.
