Forty-seven irregular migrants of different nationalities, most of them from Bangladesh, were rescued on Wednesday by a unit of the National Navy. Their boat broke down 28 miles east of Zarzis (Medenine governorate).
The migrants, aged between 25 and 40, said they had embarked on the night of July 6 to 7 from the port of Zouara in Libya to illegally reach Europe, said a statement of the Ministry of Defence.
They were taken to the port of El Ktef in Ben Guerdane (Medenine) to take the necessary measures against them, the statement added.
