500 million dinars mobilised to upgrade vocational training centres (Minister)

The government is counting on the vocational training sector as a strategic mechanism for employment and the creation of a source of income, Faouzi Abderrahmen, Minister of Vocational Education and Employment said Saturday.

The government has mobilised a budget of 500 million dinars to upgrade vocational training centres and improve the capacity of trainees to reach 75,000, up nearly 20 thousand, recalled Abderrahmen.

Speaking on the sidelines of his participation in Hammamet at the closing ceremony of the sports and cultural festival of vocational training centres, Abderrahmen added that the upgrade programme is part of a five-year plan train 90 thousand trainees and carry out more than 126 projects.

Among these projects are the construction of centres to improve the accommodation capacity ranging from 12 thousand trainees currently to 20 thousand, in addition to the implementation of projects to vary specialties and consolidate the use of new technologies, he said.

The integration rate of graduates of training centres is estimated between 60 and 70 pc, highlighted Abderrahmen.

He stressed the importance of this promising sector, which can be a mechanism to fight against irregular migration, thanks in particular to the many signed agreements that can be valued with the Gulf and European countries by favouring a specialized workforce according to market demand.
