9-member terrorist cell broken up in Manouba (Interior)

A 9-member-terrorist cell, classified as dangerous, with links to terrorist organisation Ansar Al-Sharia was broken up by the Investigation and Search Unit of Manouba National Guard.

The suspects are aged between 28 and 34, an Interiour Ministry press release published on Friday reads.

A hard drive was seized containing video sequences showing members of the cell conducting training in a mountain and photos of Tunisian terrorists with links to terrorist groups in hotbeds of tension, the press release adds.

The Ministry also found photos of a secret meeting between members of the cell and terrorists Kamel Zarrouk and Slim el Kontri as well as speeches glorifying terrorism.

After consultation with the public prosecutor, the Investigation and Search Unit of Manouba National Guard ordered to place members of the cell in custody and to initiate a judicial investigation over belonging to a terrorist group and to continue investigation.
