Abdelhamid Attia former editorial director at TAP passes away

Journalist, former editorial director at Tunis-Afrique Presse (TAP) news agency Abdelhamid Attia died on Thursday at the age of 79 after a long battle with the disease.

The late was one of the pioneers of the press in Tunisia after the independence.

He is also part of the generation of the founders of TAP Agency which he joined in 1963, two years after the creation of the agency where he began a long and rich career.

Abdelhamid Attia was born on July 25, 1938 in Sahline.

He studied in Sousse before joining, in the late 1950s, the institution of the Tunisian Post, where he stayed for five years.

Beyond his journalistic skills, the deceased was also good at music.

A graduate of the Institute of Music, he was awarded the first prize of the President of the Republic of Arab Music in the early 1970s.

He also received the second prize in composition at the Arab Music Festival organised in the mid-1970s in Tunis.

TAP Journalists and employees express their sincere condolences to the family of the deceased and to the entire press community, praying God to bestow infinite mercy upon him and welcome him into his eternal paradise.
