Aboboyaa Rider Granted Bail in Defilement Case Involving Six-Year-Old

Asante akropong: A 20-year-old tricycle rider, known locally as an "Aboboyaa" operator, has been granted GHS50,000.00 bail with three sureties by the Asante Akropong Circuit Court in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District. The man, Frank Agyei, stands accused of defiling a six-year-old girl and has pleaded not guilty. He is scheduled to reappear in court on November 13 for trial. According to Ghana News Agency, Police Chief Inspector Ruth Gborson presented the facts of the case, stating that the complainant, Florence Boamah, a trader and the victim's mother, resides with her daughter in Abuakwa-DKC. Agyei allegedly has a girlfriend who lives in the same neighborhood and is also a friend of Boamah. On the night of September 21, Boamah left her children at home to attend to a personal need. During her absence, Agyei reportedly visited the house and persuaded the victim to accompany him with the promise of buying her a drink. Chief Inspector Gborson detailed that Agyei led the victim to an uncompleted building, w here he allegedly assaulted her. After the act, he reportedly gave the child GHc10.00. Upon returning home and realizing the child was missing, Boamah was informed by her other child that Agyei had taken the victim away. Boamah and her brothers commenced a search and encountered Agyei with the victim. Agyei fled upon seeing them, and the incident was subsequently reported to the Abuakwa Police, leading to his arrest. During police investigations, Agyei denied the accusations in his caution statement. However, further inquiries led to his formal charge and court appearance. The case has drawn attention as the community awaits the upcoming trial proceedings.
