About 7.22 million quintals of grains collected till July 11

The collected quantities of grains up to July 11, reached 7.22 million quintals, that is up by 1.2 million quintals compared to the same period last year, 5.23 million quintals of which are durum wheat (72.4%), 0.61 million quintals of soft wheat and 1.38 million quintals of barley (19.1%).

The governorates of Beja and Bizerte are on top as regards the cereal crop, according to an Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries Ministry press release Tuesday.

The quantities collected in the Beja governorate reached 1.84 million quintals, i.e. 25.4% of the national average and 1.23 million quintals in the governorate of Bizerte (17.2%).

The grain collection operation is still on and proceeding at a normal pace at the cereal collection centres and control teams are continuing their work to ensure that harvesting operations comply with safety rules and to identify infringements, The ministry said in the press release.
