Tunisia’s Olympic champion Ayoub Hafnaoui bagged the gold medal in the 800m freestyle at the Abu Dhabi Arab Swimming Championships.
Hafnaoui finished in 7 minutes and 42 seconds, ahead of his compatriot Mehdi Lajili, with 8 minutes and 3 seconds.
Ayoub Hafnaoui won the gold medal in the 1500m freestyle on Sunday, while Mehdi Laajili earned bronze in the 200m.
Moreover, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council has announced that the Olympic champion will compete in the upcoming FINA World Swimming Championships (25m), which is set to take place from December 16 to 21.
Nearly 1,000 athletes representing more than 180 countries are expected to take part in the FINA World Swimming Championships, which have a total prize fund of $2.8 million, the Sports Council said.
