Accra to Host 3rd AAAG Annual Conference on Public Financial Management


Accra: Accra will host the 3rd Annual Conference of the African Association of Accountants General (AAAG) from November 24 to 27, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre. The event, jointly organised by the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department and the AAAG Secretariat, is expected to bring together more than 2,000 public accountants, policymakers, and innovators from across Africa.



According to Ghana News Agency, the Conference, themed ‘Africa of Tomorrow – Positioning Public Financial Management for Economic Prosperity,’ aims to explore reforms and innovations to strengthen public financial management systems across the continent. Discussions will focus on digital transformation, climate-responsive budgeting, fiscal governance, and responsible debt management.



President John Dramani Mahama will attend as Guest of Honour. The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Minister of Finance, alongside other notable speakers including Mr. Tony O. Elumelu, Founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation and Chairperson of the United Bank for Africa, and Professor P. L. O. Lumumba, Founder of the PLO Lumumba Foundation.



The conference will also feature sessions on leveraging artificial intelligence and digital tools for financial governance, tackling illicit financial flows, and promoting transparency and accountability in the public sector. The gathering is expected to provide a vital platform for African leaders to share strategies that can transform public finance and promote economic resilience.
