Activities of carpet and weaving sector development pole starts

The development pole of carpet and weaving sector specialising in carpet washing was inaugurated Friday, in Den Den (governorate of Manouba).

This pole, created in partnership with the Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Coordination (TIKA), destined for artisans, public and private craft companies and professionals, was created with a budget of 1.2 million dinars (MD) .

Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Selma Elloumi indicated, on this occasion, that the pole which comprises five units, was formerly the property of the company selling handicraft products “SOCOPA” liquidated since 2007 and it has been restored and refurbished as part of the Carpet and Weaving Sector Promotion Plan.

Director General of the Technical Center for Carpet and Weaving, Taoufik Mediouni, said that the start of the activities of the first part of the carpet and weaving development pole is part of the implementation of the recommendations of the national conference dedicated to the presentation of the results of a study on carpet promotion (February 2017).
