Administrative Court orders suspension of decisions “announced on behalf of CSM”

The Administrative Court decided on Monday to suspend all decisions “announced on behalf of the Supreme Judicial Council (French: CSM)” and to confirm continuing the mission of the Provisional authority until the installation of the CSM.

In a statement to TAP, Imed Ghabri, communication officer at the Administrative Court said that the Court ended the controversy around the first meeting of the CSM held on December 29, 2016 , by some members.

The decision comes on the eve of the plenary session of the House of People’s Representatives (due for Tuesday) on the draft amendment of the organic Law No. 2016-34 of April 28, 2016 providing for the creation the Supreme Judicial Council, presented by the Government.

The election of the members of the council had aroused a deep disagreement among the magistrates, preventing the installation of the council, for several months, in spite of the deadlines set by the Constitution
