AfDB investments hit record in 2017 (Zied Laadhari)

Minister of Development, Investment and International Co-operation Minister Zied Laadhari said investments by the African Development Bank (AfDB) to Tunisia in 2017 which amounted to 1,200 MD were a record.

Speaking at a meeting held Monday with a delegation of 12 members of the Board of Directors of the AfDB visiting Tunisia, he added that the investments of the financial institution that have included several priority sectors have amounted to approximately $ 8.7 billion over a 40-year period.

The meeting was an opportunity to discuss co-operation between Tunisia and AfDB and its future prospects, according to a statement from the Ministry of Development, Investment and International Co-operation.

Laadhari gave a presentation on the economic situation in Tunisia and the development programmes that will be carried out as part of a strategic vision.

These programmes are focused on boosting private investment and reducing regional disparities in order to increase the pace of growth and create jobs for young people, he said.

For his part, head of the AfDB delegation, Moussa Doussou said this visit is part of negotiations and exchange of views with the Tunisian side on future programmes and development priorities in addition to examining ways to strengthen financial co-operation.

He expressed the AfDB’s commitment to continue supporting Tunisia in its development path and to present the expertise and support necessary to achieve the expected objectives.
