AFRICA EDU-DIDACT 2018 kicks off in Tunis

The African fair of education, training and didactic and scientific learning technologies “AFRICA EDU-DIDACT 2018” kicked off on Wednesday at the headquarters of the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts Headquarters (UTICA).

“More than 60 exhibitors among the representatives of different public and private universities, vocational training centres and suppliers of equipment and scientific and educational technologies,” are taking part in the three-day fair, said Director General of the Tunisian centre of fairs, exhibitions and congresses (CTF Expo), Sami Chamekh.

The goal is to attract 20,000 African students to Tunisia before the end of 2020, he said, indicating that this show represents an opportunity to further promote the export of Tunisian expertise and to expose the latest advances in education and training.

A space has been made available to creative students to enable them to expose their innovations.

Director General of International Co-operation in the Ministry of Higher Education, Slim Shoura, for his part, said that several African countries like Djibouti, Burkina Faso and Chad have formally asked Tunisia to benefit from its national expertise in the training of trainers in the higher education sector.

He noted that the rate of foreign students enrolled in public institutions estimated at 1.5%, remains low, adding that the number of students enrolled in private institutions is of the order of 15%.

Slim Shoura also said his department is currently working on developing a programme aimed at attracting more foreign students and exporting Tunisian skills abroad.
