AGONA NYAKROM: Mr. Haruna Rashid, the Agona West Constituency Nasara Coordinator, is in critical condition following a gunshot incident involving an unidentified shooter. The attack occurred as Mr. Rashid was returning from a campaign event, injuring him and three others. According to Ghana News Agency, the shooting took place around 9 p.m. on Sunday when the convoy of Mr. Chris Arthur, the Agona West Parliamentary Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was targeted. The convoy was returning from a campaign at Agona Otsenkorang when the assailant opened fire indiscriminately, leaving four people injured, including Mr. Rashid, who was also serving as Mr. Arthur's Campaign Manager. The police source detailed that the convoy encountered a roadblock upon reaching Agona Nyakrom township. It was at this point that the suspect allegedly opened the door of Mr. Rashid's vehicle and poured alcohol on the driver, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. As Mr. Rashid attempted to manage the situation b y exiting the car, he was shot by one of two men, one of whom was wielding a gun. Following the incident, Mr. Rashid was initially taken to Agona Swedru Municipal government hospital but was later referred to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra for further treatment. The condition of the other injured individuals remains undisclosed.
