Agreement to strengthen integration of informal workers in formal economy inked

A partnership agreement was signed Tuesday between the Ministry of Vocational Training and Employment and the Tunisian Association for Management and Social Stability (TAMSS) for the implementation of the project “Tunisia Inclusive Labour Initiative Expanding Opportunities “(TILI EO)).

The objective of this project is to contribute to strengthening the integration of informal workers in the formal economy, by working on several axes, including the legislative framework, said Chema Gargouri, president of TAMSS. The purpose, she explained, is to ensure the promotion of decent work conditions for these workers.

According to the President of TAMSS, the project aims to ensure support for formalisation, guarantor of a more inclusive economy in Tunisia, by improving legislation, policies and relevant services.

As part of this project, the association is developing activities to help informal workers to integrate into the formal sector in order to preserve their dignity and offer them the opportunity to have the right to participate in social security, she insisted.

In accordance with this agreement signed at the Ministry’s headquarters, the two signatory parties agreed to develop the general framework for the project of the status of the self-entrepreneur.

Secretary of State for Vocational Training and Private Initiative, SaAda Ounissi, said that the draft law on the status of auto-entrepreneur will be presented to the cabinet before the end of the current month.

This bill will help, she said, fight against informal work and guide young people in business creation.
