(TAP) – The two Algerian choppers that arrived in Tunisia on Wednesday to help control the fire at Djebel Boukornine left El Aouina air base on Friday for Algeria.
«This initiative testifies to the solidity of the historical ties binding the two peoples and the common will to develop the fields of cooperation and coordination in the service of the interests of both countries,» the Defence Ministry said in a statement.
The department had indicated in a previous statement that a first joint intervention took place on Wednesday between a Tunisian and an Algerian aircraft to control the fire that broke out on Tuesday in Borj Cedria, in the southern suburbs of Tunis.
Two choppers and a C-130 aircraft had joined the fire extinction efforts, the statement indicated.
