ALGERIA’S POLITICAL, ECONOMIC SUPPORT ARE ITS GREATEST GIFT TO TUNISIA

Algerian political and economic support to Tunisia has been described by Tunisian Minister of Development, Investment and International Co-operation Fadhel Abdelkafi as Algeria’s greatest gift to his country.

“We were honoured by the presence of Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal. We are not surprised at Algeria’s ongoing support to Tunisia,” he said at a signing ceremony of several agreements between Tunisia and foreign partners on the sidelines of the International Conference on Investment in Tunisia.

“Algeria provides us primarily with an extremely invaluable political and also an economic support,” said the Tunisian minister.

In his speech to the conference earlier, Sellal affirmed that “Algeria and Tunisia will focus their efforts on wealth-generating economic co-operation, by encouraging partnerships and direct investment between the economic operators and businessmen of the two countries, with a view to capitalizing on the opportunities of complementarity and competitiveness, in areas such as energy, raw materials, production systems, marketing, local market capacities and labour force.

Algeria, added Sellal, had never failed in its duty of solidarity with Tunisia, by joining efforts to address the security and stability challenges and providing economic and social support through several measures, including maintaining the flow of tourists, the development of border regions and the signing of preferential trading agreements.
