(TAP) -All incoming passengers, without exception, including people fully vaccinated or those who previously contracted the virus, are required to self-isolate 7 days, head of the Quarantine Committee Mohamed Rabhi said Friday.
Rabhi told TAP as of August 1, presenting a COVID-19 vaccination certificate or a document showing the person had previously contracted the virus are no longer reasons for exempting from self-isolation.
“This measure was taken to reduce the spread of the virus, particularly after the emergence of new strains which are highly infectious and virulent,” he added.
Rabhi underscored that all local health directorates and security forces are working together to support the State’s efforts in making sure the self-isolation measures are respected by travellers.
“In some exceptional situations, travelers from abroad, who must provide evidence of having taken a coronavirus PCR test that is negative less than 72 hours before travel, are exempted from self-isolation for 7 days, particularly in short-term emergency cases,” he pointed out.
