Amenfi Central: Mrs. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the Member of Parliament for Wassa Amenfi Central in the Western Region, has expressed concern over the deplorable roads in the constituency, stating that they are hindering economic and daily activities in the area. The MP highlighted that the poor condition of the roads is adversely affecting the lives of residents, most of whom are farmers.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mrs. Cudjoe pointed out that due to the bad state of the roads, drivers are reluctant to transport goods from some villages to the city, which in turn impacts livelihoods and food security both in the district and nationally. She mentioned that even in her role as an MP, she sometimes has to resort to using a motorbike to reach communities for important activities.
Addressing the implications for health care and education access, the MP stressed that the current situation poses significant challenges for the people. She pledged to advocate for road improvements to alleviate the difficulties faced by her constituents. Mrs. Cudjoe noted that long distances and poor road networks force school pupils to walk to school, negatively affecting education delivery in the region. She assured her commitment to lobbying relevant ministries, including roads and highways, transport, education, and COCOBOD, to seek a collaborative and lasting solution to these issues.
