TARKWA: AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine has collaborated with Nana Abena Kunadjoa II, Queen Mother of Wassa Fiase Traditional Area, to conduct a capacity-building workshop aimed at enhancing the leadership capabilities of queen mothers and women leaders. The workshop, themed "Becoming an Effective Leader", focused on strategic decision-making, conflict resolution, and community development planning to aid these leaders in driving positive change in their communities. According to Ghana News Agency, the workshop included practical training sessions designed to equip the participants with essential leadership skills. Mr. Stephen Adjei, Senior Manager, Sustainability, AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine, emphasized the importance of informed and visionary leadership during his speech at the event. He highlighted the critical role of queen mothers and women leaders in traditional governance and community development. The sessions covered a range of topics essential for effective leadership, including strategic pl anning and conflict management. Mr. Adjei pointed out that the training was not just about enhancing leadership skills but also about empowering participants to make independent decisions that uplift and inspire their communities. Further, Mr. Adjei expressed gratitude towards Nana Abena Kunadjoa II for her partnership and continuous support, which were pivotal in making the workshop a reality. He also outlined various initiatives by AngloGold Ashanti to promote diversity and inclusion within the workplace and in the community. These initiatives have led to an increase in female employment and supported economic development projects such as soap production, agriculture, and piggery, improving income levels in the host communities. Additionally, Mr. Adjei mentioned the recent achievements in their Girls in Dressmaking Apprenticeship Programme and the construction of a Vocational Centre in Teberebie, which aims to further support local entrepreneurship and employment. In her remarks, Nana Abena Kunadjoa II t hanked the Iduapriem Mine for its significant contributions to community development and urged fellow queen mothers and women leaders to apply the skills learned to strengthen their communities. She also called for unity among Ghanaians as the country approaches the general elections on December 7.
