Accra: The Anlo Queenmothers Council in the Anloga District of the Volta Region has reaffirmed its support for Madam Sandra Seyram Kpedor, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area, in her efforts to develop the district. The council made a courtesy call to congratulate her on her historic appointment as the first female DCE of the Anloga District Assembly.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mama Wotorbe II, the President of the Council of traditional female leaders in the Anlo State, expressed their commitment to working closely with the DCE to advance the district’s progress and enhance development in the communities. The council emphasized the importance of collective action in addressing developmental challenges, particularly the rising cases of teenage pregnancy among young girls in the district.
Mama Wotorbe II explained that the Anlo Queen Mothers Council, composed of Queen Mothers from various states in the Anlo Traditional Area, has been tirelessly promoting the welfare of women and children. Their efforts have gained local and international recognition, serving as a model for other women’s groups in Ghana and beyond. The Queen Mothers are known for advocating children’s and women’s rights, promoting girls’ education, women’s empowerment, and community development.
The meeting with the DCE focused on the urgent developmental challenges affecting Anloga district, with an emphasis on empowering young women to pursue meaningful careers and brighter futures. The support from the Queenmothers is expected to bolster efforts in addressing these challenges.
