Brussels: Annual inflation in the euro area registered at 2% in July, while the broader European Union (EU) experienced a slightly higher rate of 2.4%, as reported by Eurostat on Wednesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Eurostat identified that the primary contributors to the annual euro area inflation rate were services, followed by the sectors of food, alcohol and tobacco, and non-energy industrial goods. The data showed a mixed trend in inflation changes compared to June 2025, with a decrease in eight member states, stability in six, and an increase in 13 others.

The report highlighted the regions with the lowest annual inflation rates, noting the Greek Cypriot Administration at 0.1%, France at 0.9%, and Ireland at 1.6%. On the other end of the spectrum, Romania recorded the highest annual rate at 6.6%, followed by Estonia at 5.6%, and Slovakia at 4.6%.

The eurozone, also known as the euro area or EA20, includes member states that have adopted the EU’s single currency, the euro. This latest data reflects the varied economic landscapes and inflationary pressures across the region.
