Anouar Bayoudh’s sentence cut to two years’

Anouar Bayoudh’s prison sentence was reduced to two years under a ruling of the Tunis Court of Appeal, while his friend Farah Haddad had her two-year prison term commuted to a two-year suspended sentence which means she has leave from prison, Spokesperson for the appeal court Ali Guigua Sunday told TAP.

The 5th Specialised Chamber dealing with terror cases at the Tunis Court of First Instance sentenced Bayoudh on May 3 to 4 years imprisonment and Haddad to two years in addition to two years of administrative control after they were found guilty in terror cases.

After hearing the accused, the investigating judge issued two committal orders against them on July 4, 2016, for membership of Daesh terrorist organisation.

The two suspects were arrested upon their arrival from Turkey at Tunis-Carthage airport in July and handed over to the anti-terror squad of El Aouina. A national and international arrest warrant was issued against them after the left for Syria in November 2015.

Anouar Bayoudh is the son of colonel-major Fethi Bayoudh, chief of the pediatrics department at the Military Hospital in Tunis, who was killed in Istanbul airport attack (June 28, 2016). Fethi Bayoudh was in Turkey trying to find his son.
