Arab Parliament Speaker Hails HM the King’s ‘Great Role’ in Defending Arab Issues

Rabat – Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Adel ben Abderrahman Al-Assoumi, hailed, Thursday in Rabat, the “great role” of HM King Mohammed VI in the defense of Arab issues.

During a meeting with speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, the speaker of the Arab parliament expressed “his esteem and gratitude for the great role of the Sovereign in the defense of Arab issues,” said a statement by the lower house.

On this occasion, Al-Assoumi, who was accompanied by a large delegation, referred to the role of the Arab Parliament, the leading defenders of Arab issues, the first of which is the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, reaffirming the position of the Arab Parliament in favor of the sovereignty of Morocco on all its territory.

He also highlighted the efforts of the Arab parliament in support of the Arab peoples and the interests of their countries, praising the dynamism and the serious and effective contribution of Moroccan parliamentarians in this institution. He then called to enhance these efforts and diversify the means of cooperation and coordination between the two institutions, according to the same source.

For his part, Talbi Alami expressed his gratitude for the positions of the Arab parliament in favor of Morocco and its territorial integrity, calling for the holding in the Kingdom of the next session of the Arab parliament.

He also praised the commitment of parliamentarians from both Houses of the Moroccan parliament to defend Arab issues and interests, especially in a context characterized by health, social and economic challenges following the Covid-19 pandemic, considering that these challenges must lead to unify the visions and efforts within international organizations to overcome the obstacles that arise.

This meeting was also an opportunity to examine ways to strengthen cooperation relations in the field of human rights, legislative experiences, integration of women in the political field, in addition to various parliamentary issues of common interest.

The speaker of the Arab Parliament and several members of this institution are on a working visit to Morocco to participate in the 11th Congress of the Association of Senates, Shoora and Equivalent Councils in Africa and the Arab World, organized by the House of Advisors.
