Arabic Calligraphy on List of UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity

Its inscription was decided by the Intangible Cultural Heritage Committee of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), which met from 13 to 18 December to examine 55 new applications for inscription submitted by States Parties.

The inscription of Arabic calligraphy was submitted as part of a joint application filed with UNESCO by 16 Arab countries including the Kingdom of Morocco.

The committee also registered on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity “falconry a living human heritage”, submitted by 25 countries from different continents, including Morocco.

The Intangible Cultural Heritage Committee of UNESCO will also have to decide during this virtual meeting on the inscription of the equestrian art of Tbourida, presented by Morocco.
