Argentine Foreign Minister starts three-day official visit to Tunisia

Argentine Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie is starting an official visit to Tunisia on Saturday, at the invitation of his Tunisian counterpart Khemais Jhinaoui.

The visit seeks to foster relations of friendship and cooperation with Argentina and widen economic partnership with the countries of Latin America as well as with the economic group MERCOSUR members including Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela.

A working session will bring together the two Foreign Ministers followed by a set of meetings with senior Tunisian officials. Talks will focus mainly on how to boost bilateral relations and diversify their fields and regional and international issues of mutual interest, within the framework of Argentina’s presidency of G20 in 2018.

During this three-day visit, bilateral agreements will be inked to reinforce the legal framework governing relations binding the two countries, according to a Foreign Ministry press release.

Tunisia has started direct negotiations with the MERCOSUR group for the conclusion of a free trade agreement with this market.
