Al-Bawsala organisation condemned the violation, for the second time in two weeks, of article 103 of the rules of procedure of the House of People’s Representatives (French: ARP).
«This is a flagrant violation of the principle of transparency of public meetings and an attack on the right of access to information for citizens,» the organisation said in a statement on Monday.
Al-Bawsala said these violations are likely to undermine the credibility of the voting process.
MPs who do not attend plenary sessions in person are not able to follow the work of the sessions; they are thus unable to know the content of the bills on which they are voting, the statement pointed out.
Al Bawsala called on the ARP to make all plenary sessions public and to provide all the human and logistical resources necessary to guarantee transparency.
The plenary session on Monday addresses the bill on reviving the economy and the regulation of foreign exchange violations. It will also discuss sending troops abroad, in accordance with Article 77 of the Constitution.
