ARP: eight new INPT Board members elected

Members of the House of People’s Representatives (French: ARP) elected a plenary session Thursday eight new members of the board of the National Authority for the Prevention of Torture (INPT), by secret ballot.
These are Sabeur Ben Abderrazak Amri (149 votes), Haythem Ben Mekki Ben Chaabane (148) and Saloua Bent Mohamed Barra (135) in the category of Human Rights Organizations.
Rabeb Bent Noureddine Ayari (150 votes) in the category Child Protection specialist.
Lazhar Ben Brahim Khanchani (154 votes) and Sadok Ben Brahim Laamari (146) in the Retired Magistrate category.
Abir Bent Mohamed Aissaoui (151 votes) and Boutheina Bent Sahbi Louhichi (147 votes) in the Doctors category.
According to the Organic Law on the National Authority for the Prevention of Torture, the composition of the authority is renewed by half every three years. The INPT is currently chaired by Fethi Jarrey.
Today, the renewal of the composition of the body concerned 4 categories (organizations of defense of the human rights, Specialist in child protection, doctors and retired magistrates).
The National Authority for the Prevention of Torture is composed of 16 members elected by the parliament. Its main mission is to make visits to arrest and detention centers, disseminate a culture of fight against torture, collect data, receive complaints and collect their testimonies.
It is also an advisory body.
The National Constituent Assembly had adopted the Organic Law No. 2013-43 of October 21, 2013 on the National Authority for the Prevention of Torture in 2013.
The ARP in March 2016 elected the 16 members of this authority.
