ARP: Global convention on recognising HE qualifications adopted

After the adoption on Tuesday by the parliament of the global convention on the recognition of qualifications relating to higher education, Tunisia will reap several benefits, said Olfa Ben Ouda Syoud, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The deputies of the House of People’s Representatives (ARP) adopted on Tuesday during a plenary session the bill n14 for the year 2021 on the global convention on the recognition of qualifications relating to higher education, with 118 votes in favour and 2 abstentions.

This convention was adopted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) during the 40th session of its general conference in Paris on 25 November 2019.

The convention aims to promote international cooperation in the field of higher education. Ben Ouda said in her speech to the ARP that this convention will have a positive impact on the ministry and research centres as well as companies.

The convention will promote global mobility and the optimal use of human resources on a global scale, the minister said.
