The challenges facing the National Union of Tunisian Women (UNFT) in enhancing its role in the defence of women’s rights were at the heart of a meeting held on Thursday between Speaker of the Assembly of People’s Representatives (ARP), Brahim Bouderbala, and President of the National Union of Tunisian Women (UNFT) Radhia Jerbi.
The head of the UNFT stressed the importance of the relationship between the parliament and the union in consulting on women’s rights at the legislative level.
Jerbi also pointed to the challenges facing the UNFT, particularly in the fight against the various forms of violence against women, including economic exploitation.
For his part, the speaker of Parliament expressed his belief in the capacity of Tunisian women to contribute to the new construction process, according to a statement from the ARP.
