Asanko Gold Ghana Unveils New Community Center in Manso Nkran

Accra: Asanko Gold Ghana, as part of its Social Investment and Community Development Programme, has officially handed over a state-of-the-art multipurpose community center to the residents of Manso Nkran in the Amansie South District. This initiative aims to address infrastructural needs and foster social cohesion within the mining host communities.

According to Ghana News Agency, the mining company has equipped the new facility with chairs, public address systems, and other tools essential for community gatherings, capacity building programs, and cultural exchanges. Constructed at a cost of GH?2,318,209, the center reflects Asanko Gold Ghana’s commitment to sustainable development through strategic partnerships between communities, traditional authorities, and the private sector.

Dr. Charles Amoah, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Asanko Gold Ghana, highlighted the company’s dedication to improving community infrastructure. He emphasized that projects such as the Kwabenaso Primary School, the five-unit Asuadai Teachers’ Bungalows, and the 60-bed Esaase Hospital underscore their multi-million-dollar investment in enhancing lives across host communities. Dr. Amoah further mentioned that the Asanko Five-Year Development Plan includes several initiatives aimed at empowering local communities, such as scholarship schemes, agro-input support programs, and a soap-making initiative for women and youth.

During the ceremony, Dr. Amoah called for peaceful relations between the mining company and host communities, stressing that coexistence, honesty, respect, and shared responsibility are crucial for true development. Nana Bi-Kusi Appiah II, Paramount Chief of Manso Nkwanta, praised the mining company for its role in infrastructural development and urged the local leadership to ensure the building’s maintenance and effective use.

The Paramount Chief emphasized the importance of peace and harmony, advocating for dialogue and peaceful engagement as the preferred means of addressing disputes. He noted that while disagreements are inevitable, violence hinders progress. It is vital, he said, for the communities and Asanko Gold Ghana to foster tolerance and jointly pursue development.
