Assin South District Assembly Unanimously Endorses President’s Nominee


Assin South: The Assin South District Assembly has unanimously endorsed Mr. Jonathan Birikorang as the new District Chief Executive (DCE), to steer the affairs of the Assembly. The 25 Assembly members present, including 11 government appointees, all voted in favor of Mr. Birikorang.



According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Birikorang, in his acceptance speech, expressed gratitude to the Almighty God for the honor and thanked President John Dramani Mahama and high-ranking members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for his appointment. He pledged to ensure the completion of all uncompleted projects in the district to serve their intended purposes. Additionally, he emphasized the pursuit of the NDC’s 24-hour economy initiative to generate employment for the people.



Earlier, there was a misunderstanding when the position of a Presiding Member (PM) was being contested, but Mr. William Appiah ultimately won. Mr. Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah, the Central Regional Minister, expressed satisfaction with the outcomes for both the DCE and PM positions. He encouraged collaboration with traditional authorities in the district to implement policies and programs for the area’s development and wished them well in their endeavors.



The event was attended by local chiefs, clergy, Mr. James Gyakye Quayson, the MP for the Assin North District, and members of the NDC Party.
