The Tunisian Association for the Defence of Children’s Rights expressed its utter rejection of the President of the Republic’s proposal to make the vaccination certificate mandatory in order to enroll students in educational institutions, in an effort to combat the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Association rejected in a press release on Thursday President Kais Saied’s proposal during his meeting on Wednesday with Health Minister Ali Mrabit to devise new ways to intensify Coronavirus jab operations among certain groups such as students, by requiring a vaccination certificate to enroll them in schools.
It stated that the right to study is a constitutional right and cannot be bound by any conditions that may prevent the pupil from enrolling in the school and enjoying the right to education, the same source indicated.
Article 39 of the Tunisian Constitution of 2014 stipulates that education is compulsory and that the State guarantees the right to free public education and provides the necessary means to achieve quality education and training.
