Atwima Mponua MP Reaffirms Commitment to Infrastructural Development

Atwima Mponua: Mr. Seth Osei Akoto, Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua, has reaffirmed his commitment to infrastructural development in the area. He emphasized his dedication to collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure that residents receive their fair share of social amenities, aiming to improve their living conditions.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Akoto made these remarks during a session with journalists following his working visit to assess the ongoing reconstruction of the Kotokuom bridge. This critical infrastructure project connects the communities of Nyinawusu and Kotokuom in the Ashanti Region. The bridge, which had deteriorated over several years, is a vital transportation route for thousands, including farmers, traders, students, and healthcare seekers, all reliant on it for daily commutes and socio-economic activities.

The reconstruction has been welcomed by the local population, who have faced challenges accessing neighboring towns, especially during the rainy season. The MP expressed satisfaction with the quality of work being done by the contractor, noting the steady progress of the project. He stated that, barring unforeseen circumstances, the reconstruction is expected to conclude within a three-month timeframe.

Mr. Akoto remarked, “I am pleased with the progress of work and the professionalism shown by the contractor. This bridge is not just a structure-it is a lifeline for thousands of people in this part of the constituency. Its completion will significantly improve access to markets, schools, and health facilities.” He highlighted that this project is part of a broader governmental effort to address the infrastructure gap in rural areas and improve the quality of life for underserved communities. He urged residents to continue supporting the contractor for the timely completion of the project.

Nana Kofi Fofie, Chief of Kotokuom, expressed gratitude to both the MP and the government for addressing the long-standing transportation issues faced by the community. “For many years, we have cried for help to fix this bridge. Today, we are witnessing the fruits of persistent advocacy, and we are grateful to our MP for not turning a blind eye to our needs,” he stated.

Residents present at the project site commended the MP for his accessibility and pragmatic leadership. Some recounted the challenges they had faced over the years, including near-fatal accidents and delays in transporting farm produce due to the bridge’s poor condition. With the project progressing well, the people of Kotokuom and surrounding areas remain hopeful that the completed bridge will herald a new era of safety, connectivity, and economic opportunity.

Mr. Akoto’s inspection tour is part of a broader strategy to ensure quality assurance, transparency, and accountability in the execution of all ongoing development projects in Atwima Mponua.
