Aziz Chennaoui’s “Korrinty” won the Hypatia Silver Trophy, awarded by a special jury at the Alexandria short film festival, organised February 10-16.
This prize was awarded to him jointly with Syrian Alaa Abo Ferrag for his film “Sarah” (17′).
The first prize in the Arab competition was awarded to the Syrian-Canadian co-production “Their Truth” (20′) by Marcelle Aleid.
Presented as an African premiere, Korrinty was among 9 short films in the Arab competition (Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia and Canada in 2 co-productions).
Out of the 1,500 entries, a total of 59 films were selected in the six competitive sections (international, Arab, fiction, documentary, cartoons and student films).
For this edition, 4 special mentions were awarded to Egyptian films.
