Bardo knife attack: Assailant placed into custody

The public prosecutor ordered the assailant who wounded two policemen with a knife Wednesday in Bardo held in custody; he will also be handed over to El-Gorjani investigation unit of terrorist crimes.

The man attacked a traffic patrol in Bardo Square on Wednesday morning, while shouting “Allahou Akbar” and “Taghout,” it emerged from a preliminary investigation.

The attacker, born in 1992, has no criminal record, Spokesperson for the Judicial Counter-Terrorism Division Sofiene Selliti said. He admitted he was about to join terrorist groups in Libya.

A man armed with a knife attacked on Wednesday morning a traffic patrol in Bardo, injuring two officers. One officer sustained a serious neck injury, while the second suffered a minor head injury.
