Bawumia Inaugurates New Centre of Excellence in Volta Region

Alavanyo abehenease: Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, also the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has recently inaugurated the Tsatsadu Centre of Excellence in Alavanyo Abehenease, Volta Region, as part of a collaborative initiative between the Bui Power Authority (BPA) and the Ministry of Energy. According to Ghana News Agency, the Centre is a product of the BPA's Corporate Social Responsibility efforts tied to the establishment of the Tsatsadu Generating Station. Dr Bawumia praised the BPA and other stakeholders for their role in this initiative, highlighting its potential to bolster local community activities and provide educational opportunities in renewable energy technologies. During the commissioning, Dr Bawumia reiterated his commitment to enhancing Ghana's energy infrastructure by adding 2,000 megawatts of solar power to the national grid. He emphasized that this expansion could significantly reduce electricity costs by up to 50 percent for both households and businesses, aligning with his broader economic goals for the country. The Centre features a variety of facilities including a performance stage, office spaces, and an open area designed to utilize natural lighting-ideal for cultural events and social gatherings. It also boasts modern amenities such as paved pathways, landscaping, secure fencing, and a comprehensive water system to support its daily operations. Furthermore, the establishment of the Centre will facilitate practical training for engineering students, particularly from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, with plans to formalize this arrangement through an upcoming Memorandum of Understanding. The project received accolades from Mr John-Peter Amewu, former Energy Minister and current Member of Parliament for Hohoe, who described both the Station and the Centre as unprecedented in the constituency. He also seized the moment to endorse Dr Bawumia's candidacy for president in the upcoming elections.
