A cooperation memorandum was recently inked between the Central Bank of Tunisia and the Bank of Spain with a view to foster collaboration relations and establish a joint framework for technical cooperation and knowledge and experience sharing between both central banks.
Signed during a VTC meeting on October 20 between BCT Governor Marouane El Abassi and Bank of Spain Governor Pablo Hernández de Cos, This agreement, of indefinite duration, might entail study and research programmes, organisation of conferences, meetings, seminars, workshops or experts’ meetings, missions and visits, says a press release issued on Wednesday by the BCT.
El Abassi pointed out on this occasion, that the officialisation of this partnership with the Spanish Central Bank, which had been initiated a few years ago by the organisation of the Mediterranean Central Banks Conference, is in keeping with the reinforcement of the BCT’s strategic choice to boost expertise exchange with issuing institutes that share the same Mediterranean culture and the same aspirations and challenges.
For his part, Hernández de Cos commended the inking of this agreement which is likely to further foster relations with the BCT.
This agreement is also part of the recent initiative of the European System of Central Banks to actively develop technical cooperation between central banks in the African Continent.
