Beja-Municipal elections 2018: serious offences punishable by imprisonment (ISIE president)

Serious offences reported in polling centres in Beja governorate on Sunday are punishable by prison if they are proven, President of the Independent High Authority for the Elections (ISIE) Mohamed Tlili Mnasri said in a press conference at the Convention Centre in Tunis, adding that they are mainly acts of violence.

Minutes will be drafted on this subject by IRIE (Independent Regional Authority for Elections) controllers and the heads of local polling stations.

If these acts of violence are verified, the case will be referred to the public prosecutor, said Mnasri, adding that the facts would be punishable by imprisonment.

President of the IRIE in Beja Adel Achour said the offences perpetrated by some party lists, particularly in Nefza can lead to the partial cancellation of these lists.

Until noon, no fewer than 30 offences were recorded in Nefza and Teboursouk alone, including acts of violence and attempts to influence voters.
