Beji Caid Essebsi meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs

President Beji CaA�d Essebsi met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Khemaies Jhinaoui on Tuesday at Carthage Palace.

After the meeting, Jhinaoui said he had discussed with the President of the Republic the agenda of the third meeting of foreign ministers of Libya’s neighbouring countries to be held Wednesday in Cairo.

This meeting is part of following up on the presidential initiative for a comprehensive settlement of the Libyan crisis, he said.

It also seeks to support the efforts of the UN envoy for Libya to encourage dialogue between the Libyan antagonists and reach a final solution to the Libyan crisis in order to foster security and stability in this country, the minister pointed out.

According to a statement by the Presidency of the Republic, the meeting also focused on the agenda of the 5th Africa-EU Summit to be held in Abidjan, CAte d’Ivoire on November 29 and 30.

The President of the Republic stressed the importance of Tunisia’s participation in this summit in a way reflecting the increased interest of Tunisian diplomacy in Africa and the promising prospects offered in terms of co-operation and partnership.
