The new field hospital in Ben Arous governorate, set up as part of a Qatari donation, will be operational as of next week with a capacity of 84 oxygen-fitted beds and 10 intencive care beds, manager of field hospitals Brigadier General Doctor Mohamed Soussi said Friday.
With this new field hospital, the number of field hospitals for COVID-19 patients in the various regions now stands at 7: 1 in El Menzah-Tunis (84 oxygen-fitted beds and 22 IC beds), Kairouan (84 oxygen-fitted beds an 4 IC beds), Beja, Siliana and Zaghouan (63 oxygen-fitted beds and 3 IC beds in each governorate) and Nabeul (42 oxygen-fitted beds and 2 IC beds), he specified to TAP.
Besides, the Manouba field hospital set up as part of a Moroccan medical aid to Tunisia and inaugurated on Thursday, will be start operation in the coming days.
It includes two complete ICUs; the first with 50 IC beds and the second with 50 oxygen-fitted beds, 100 ventilators and 2 oxygen generators with a capacity of 33 m3/h each ensuring oxygen self-supply with a daily production of 3,000 litres.
Works are underway to set up 5 additional field hospitals in Jendouba, Gafsa, Monastir, Sousse and Kasserine, the official specified.
All field hospitals provide high-quality health services that meet international standards, he pointed out, indicating that 95% of COVID-19 patients who are under ventilators have been recovering swiftly.
