Ben Gharbia hands over to Caid Essebsi 3rd report on human rights situation in Tunisia

President Beji Caid Essebsi met Monday at Carthage Palace with Minister in charge of Relations with Constitutional Institutions, Civil Society and Human Rights Mehdi Ben Gharbia.

The Minister handed over to the Head of the State the third report on the human rights situation in Tunisia which was presented May 2 at the Human Rights Council in Geneva.

The third report responded to all of the recommendations made by the Human Rights council in Tunisia in 2012, Ben Gharbia was quoted as saying in a Presidency of the Republic press statement.

The constitutionalisation of fundamental rights and freedoms and the setting up of independent constitutional authorities, such as the good governance and anti-corruption authority and the audiovisual communication authority which the Head of the State stressed on the need to hasten its implementation, are among these recommendations.
